Heat wave

So, today was the day I was to go to Spokane for a couple days but as we were getting the animals fed this morning we found 10 baby bunnies in Lovie's cage.  She made a wonderful nest of fur for her babies and all are doing fine.  With that and the fact that Romeo got so car sick last time we took him anyplace we decided it was best I stay here.  I am glad I did.  It is over 80 here and Lovie got way over heated today.  None of the rabbits were moving much except rapid panting.  I took bags of ice out for each cage and spritz their ears with cool water along with adding a tarp over the front to keep all sun from hitting the inside of the cages and having a fan blow across the front of the hatches.  All are moving around more and looking better.

Lovie delivered about 3 days early, I calculated tue or wed.  Here is a photo of all the live babies.  Keeping my fingers crossed!  This is her first litter and this is the longest a first litter have survived for us.  They are small and the runt (small pink one in the upper left corner) is very small.  We will have to wait and see, but Lovie appears to be a good mom!

Here is Lovie and her ice pack to keep her cool.

couple new photos

Christmas is the closest in all 3 pics.  Everyone else thinks Christmas is a boy but I still hold out hope that she is a she.  She is still friendly and likes extra love.

these 2 pics are Gogo.  We are all pretty sure Gogo is a boy.  His comb is much larger and a brighter red then Spot which is the same breed of chicken.  He is always one of the first to come running when I head out to the coop with treats.

Here is a pic of Romeo but he will not look at the camera.  As soon as he sees the camera come out he turns his head.  I guess this is his good side...

I was wrong...

Shane took Brady on a fishing/camping trip and with Sky with my parents, I am a bit lonely.  I cleaned the living room and dining room from top to bottom, did the dishes took all the dirty cloths down stairs and started working on a new puzzle.  Sky just called to say good night and I am so lonely.  I am going to head up and clean my bedroom from top to bottom now before turning in for the night.  At least my house will be clean by the end of the weekend!  I can't remember my life before my babies...Things are so quiet...even the dogs are just sleeping on the couch and being very quiet.  very strange around here...I thought I would enjoy being alone more than I am...did I mention I am a bit lonely?

oh the sadness

Today has been horrible!  My baby Sky went to stay a week with his grandparents!  They left at 9 am...I was up at 3 am and started crying around 8 am, finally stopped around 3:30 pm.  My eyes are so puffy and sore!  I made him call once an hour today.  I told him around 5:30 that I am doing ok now and he can just call when he wants to now...I make no promises that I won't call and check in from time to time and Sky said he will try to call 3 times a day all week.  I did tell him if he wants to come home early to just call and I will be there as fast as I can!!!!  I thought when he started kindergarten was going to be the worse day but this was WAY worse!

minivan joys

I finally got rid of the Camry!  I now have a wonderful minivan again!  I told Shane I just couldn't stand not having a minivan any longer and so we went down and got a Toyota Sienna...I will miss the navigation but I will survive that one negative when the possitives are too many to list!

Bird Free!

Shane got the turkey coop done and the turkeys are out of my house!  Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years are enjoying their new home and are trying to make friends with the chickens who are just on the other side of the fence.  The plan is to open it up so they can all mingle once the turkeys are as big as the chickens and can defend themselves against them.  Gogo (who I think may be a rooster) keeps pecking at the turkeys when they get too close to the fence.  Especially Christmas who is so lovey and friendly she wants to make friends with all the new strange looking birds.

I hate to admit it but I do miss Christmas chirping to us and we answer and we would go back and forth for a while.  The feed store thinks our turkeys are quite unique because usually by a couple weeks old turkeys are mean and peck at who ever puts their hands near the cage.  Not our girls though!  Only Christmas likes to be held but the others let us pet them from time to time.  Christmas gets most of the attention and she likes it that way!

Parent Teacher Organization

Well, I was elected President of the PTO for both Lincoln and Central Elementary tonight.  I have to learn to say no...At least this gives me an out from popping corn every Friday next year.  I thought Shane would be really mad but, actually he took it ok.  I have to get more organized!  Luckily the last President is moving to the School Board so she is available to help me...

house before

I have been bugged to get photos of the house posted.  We are still working on the house but this is what the house looked like when we bought it.
We are repainting it a beige with brown trim and starting to replace the windows too.  When things are looking better I will post those photos.

RIP Roger

So Roger took a turn for the worst and past away the other day.  I have been too upset to write about it and even now I am getting so sad.  I would like to think I did the best I could but, I always wonder if I could have done something more.  I must have jinxed it by posting how well he was doing.  Every resource said that successful hand raising rabbits is very rare.  I guess I just hoped Roger would be one of the few.  I am going to work on a maternity cage for when our mommies are due in hopes of giving them all the support they need to be able to raise their babies.  Going to put it on the back deck so we can keep a closer eye on them and be sure they are protected and warm.  They have to start surviving...
