Opening Day

Sorry not a great pic but here are the boys at opening ceremonies for the Hoquiam Baseball League.
It was raining so everyone was under a covered area waiting for the rain to let up enough for team photos.  Spoiler alert: the rain never let up and the photo was taken under the covered area.

Both boys play on the Lytle Seafood Twins.

Everyone was excited to play their first game...unfortunately because of the rain plans changed and the team headed for the High School and played in the gym instead.
The boys play in the minor league which is 9 - 11 year olds.  The boys on the team range from 3rd to 5th grade but we do have 1 2nd grader.  The coaches son.  Our WONDERFUL coach is Mr. Jump who is a high school teacher and coaches the high school baseball team.  He is so great with the boys and is teaching them skills they can really use.  No small wonder that his son is already a baseball dynamo!

Hoquiam is a small world and Coach Jump is married to one of the Principals at Sky's school.  Did I mention we play at Olympic Stadium on Jump Field?  Our coach Jump has a brother, who coaches the Case Mia team, which is the Jump Family Italian Restaurant that was started by coach's mom.

Got all that?

Top award for design...and the winner is...

SKY
Sky won a first place trophy for his boat design that he raced in the Cub Scouts Rain Gutter Regatta!
Both boys made it into the racing semi finals but alas victory was just out of reach.  It worked out great actually because Bray won a trophy for the pinewood derby so now everyone is happy.

It is my honor to...

Introduce the newest member of the Gray's Harbor Swim Team!
Now I have to go find my baby his first Speedo.  Team colors are black and purple.  He has worked so hard to make the team and he is very proud of himself.  Wednesday was tryouts and I was a nervous wreck the whole time.  Practice starts on the 12th but now we have a conflict with his baseball team games so we are still trying to figure out the specifics.

Rest in Peace...

We got word that our dear friend Bill passed away this morning.  We lost him way too young.

He was Bray's first drum teacher and will always be the world's best drummer to me...

And one hell of a fisherman too!  He touched our lives in many ways.

Zboys got talent!

Sky and Bray did a duet at school last night.  I was so proud, they managed to not fight for a whole minute!
Not sure if the video will come though ok...here is a pic though of my boys...

As you can see Bray is still loving his ties.  This is his favorite green and black stripe.

Sky is playing his new Alto recorder and Bray is playing the Soprano recorder.

crazy spring

oh my goodness, I am meeting myself coming and going these days!

Both boys are playing baseball, opening game is May 3rd so their amazing coach has been working so much with all the boys to get them ready.  Which means extra trips into town for practice at night usually 3.  Sky is in the school play so that is 2 extra trips in to pick him up after school when they have rehearsal.  Sky is still taking Sunday math classes so that is once a week.  Brady is on the last stretch to make swim team, tryouts are May 12th so that is 2 trips a week into town in the evenings for that, Cub Scouts have not happened for a couple weeks due to everything listed above and I like a total idiot decided I needed a swimming refresher so I can help Brady more (forget about keeping up with him when swimming laps though) which means an additional trip into town once a week.  And of course gas prices are going up up and away!  Add in 5 trips a week to take the boys to school!

Before I went though very little gas, maybe 2 tanks a month at the very most around Spokane!  Now I feel like I am gassing up every other day!  Ok exaggeration I have not actually documented how often I go but I am sure it is every week at a minimum and this van has a larger tank then the last one!!!

I promise to get some spring pics out ASAP, I want to share so much with everyone.

fly the nest...please

Today was the day we took Britney, Whitney and Barsco out to the chicken coop.  They were not happy.  In fact they keep trying to grab my cloths and hold on to us so we won't leave them.  While setting up their area in the coop Britney wandered outside into the chicken run with all the teenagers and when the older chicks started picking on her she yelled for mommy and daddy.  When I started toward the door Britt ran full blast at the door and as soon as I opened it she ran to my feet.  In earlier visits to the older chickens she would stand between my feet for protection from the bigger chicks.  I am worried but they are really old enough to head outside.  I am hoping to get a couple more chicks this week and really need the space inside for little ones.

Definitely going to have to spend time with Britney and Whitney on a regular basis, I think Britney wants to be an inside chicken.  We have some juggling around to do with the girls this year.  Some are for just eggs and others are for raising meat chickens and eggs.  Time is getting close when we will start butchering the chicks we hatched in January...should be interesting.
